What if the moment you almost missed became the one God used to speak straight to your heart?

I reached Red Rock Canyon at sunset, the “jewel of the Mojave,” as the sky blushed gold and purple over those ancient Aztec sandstone walls. Warm desert wind carried dust and sage, and the air tasted dry and sweet, like the day was being folded up and handed back to God. My feet ached on the rough overlook, but each step felt like walking on holy ground where Native peoples once watched the same cliffs glow over the Keystone Thrust. Crickets began to sing, cars hushed on the Scenic Drive, and the rocks seemed to whisper the story of a world shaped by His mighty hand.

Light slipped fast and my heart raced as the colors faded and my window to capture this “desert sanctuary” closed. I steadied my camera, prayed a simple “Lord, help me,” and pressed the shutter one more time as shadows wrapped the canyon. Later at home, when I opened the file, I saw it nestled in the stone a desert bighorn, quiet and hidden, framed in my photo like a secret blessing. In that small surprise, I felt God’s kindness that He had given me more than a landscape He had trusted me with His living creation and invited me deeper into His story of faithfulness here in the heart of Red Rock Canyon.
