When Everything Inside Feels Noisy
Share
Some days it feels like your mind never stops. You're scrolling, planning, replaying past conversations in your head, worrying about the future. You move from one thing to the next, and even when you finally sit down, your soul is still racing.
If your soul feels loud, you’re not broken and you’re not alone. You’re just tired of carrying more noise than your heart was designed to hold.
There’s a gentle invitation woven through Scripture: to be still and remember who God is, even when life feels anything but quiet.
Stillness can feel strange when you’re used to running on hurry and distraction. Sitting in the quiet can bring up all the thoughts and feelings you’ve been trying to outrun. But the beautiful truth is this: God doesn’t wait for you to become perfectly calm before He meets you. He steps into the middle of your noise and offers His presence right there.
Stillness isn’t about having an empty mind or a perfect routine. It’s about turning your attention back toward Him, even for just a few moments.
A 3-Minute Stillness Practice With God
If three minutes is all you have today, that's enough. Here is one simple way to welcome stillness with God, right where you are.
Step 1: Find One Beautiful Thing
Look for one beautiful thing you can see from where you are. It might be a window view, a tree outside, a plant on your shelf, or a favorite piece of art hanging on your wall.
Let your eyes rest there instead of on your phone.

Step 2: Breathe and Arrive
Take a slow breath in and a slow breath out.
With each exhale, quietly pray something simple like, “Here I am, Lord,” or “Jesus, I’m listening.”
Do this for four or five breaths. Don't rush, just notice the tension leaving your shoulders, your jaw, your chest.
If your thoughts wander, that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Every time you notice your mind racing, simply return to your breath and that simple prayer.
Step 3: Ask and Listen
Whisper one honest sentence to God about how you really are today.
It might sound like:
• “Lord, I feel so tired.”
• “God, I feel far from You.”
• “Jesus, I don’t know what to do next.”
Then sit in silence for one minute.
You don’t have to hear anything dramatic or profound. The goal isn’t to force an answer; it’s to be fully present with Him. Remember that He is already near, already listening, already loving you.
I created my artwork in the middle of my own searching for stillness, standing in quiet places, watching light move across waterfalls, forests, deserts, and skies. Many of those moments came when my own soul felt loud, and I needed a reminder to pause and breathe, too.

Every time you pass a piece of art on your wall, it can become more than just decor. It can be a gentle cue to pause for one deep breath and one honest sentence to God.
Over time, that image can turn into a doorway. A small, daily invitation into stillness and connection.
If you’re longing for that reminder in your own space, consider choosing a piece of art that feels like a deep breath to you and placing it somewhere you’ll see it often: by your favorite chair, above your desk, or in the spot where you begin and end your day.
Friend, if your soul has felt loud lately, my prayer is that these three small minutes become a safe place to land. You don’t have to earn God’s nearness, He delights to meet you in the quiet, even when the quiet is brief and imperfect.
May this week hold at least one moment where you pause, breathe, and remember: you are not alone. God is closer than the noise.
If you’d like to begin, try this 3‑minute practice once a day for the next seven days. You might be surprised by how even the smallest pockets of stillness can soften the edges of your day.
